These records are found in their original records in the North Carolina State Archives. The names have been transcribed as close to the original spelling. In a few places, we have added a second possible spelling to help clarify the interpretation.
The real value of these records place a man in place and time. A careful study of the companies will help to place that man in a smaller area of the county for the tiem. The Companies were like our Civil Districts of today. When there is a duplication of names within a county, these companies become important to help separate the persons of the same name.
