Pike County, Georgia was created in 1822 out of the lands of Monroe County. This volume of history and biographies is a reprint of two older sources: First “Memoirs of Georgia”? and secondly “Historical Collection of Georgia”? by George White. Since most of the data in these two pieces were taken from the families themselves, the information can be considered to be more accurate than other sources.

Example from this volume:

THOMAS J. BLASINGAME, ordinary of Pike county, was born in Monroe County, April 5, 1840, and is the son of Wyatt and Susan (Adams) Blasingame, both natives of South Carolina. Thomas J. came with his parents to Upson county in 1852….
