Pemiscot County, located on the extreme southeastern tip of the state, was created on 19 February 1851 and named for the local bayou whose name came from the Fox dialect ?pem-eskaw? meaning ?liquid mud?. In this volume you will find a brief history of the county and the 1860 mortality schedule for the county.
