Hamblen County was created on May 31, 1870 and was named for Hezekiah Hemblen. Hamblen County was created from parts of Grainger, Jefferson and Hawkins Counties in middle east Tennessee. These records represent the first five marriage books of the county and the information found in them give the names of the bride and groom, date license was issued and the date and by whom solemnized. The bondsman is also given.
