Early on in about 1828, Colorado area was known as the Colorado District of the Municipality of Austin with the Austin Colonist. Ii remained thus until 17 March 1836 when the area was declared a County in the new Republic of Texas. Goodspeed began the story of this county by giving a short history of southwest Texas and then the biographical sketches of many of the early families in the county. In this volume we present that short history followed by the biographies. Each of these two sections have separate index.
