The material for this booklet is taken from two sources, History of Kentucky by Lewis Collins in 1882 and KENTUCKY: A History of the State by W. H. Perin, J. H. Battle and G. C. Kniffin in 1885.

Boone County was the 30th county organized in Kentucky and it was established in 1798 out of part of Campbell County and named in honor of Colonel Daniel Boone. Located in the north bend of the Ohio River, it is the northern most county in the state.

These biographical sketches were submitted by the families themselves, and therefore, they should be more accurate than those constructed by someone outside the family.

Example of one sketch:

DR. ROBERT L. FINNELL was born in Verona, Boone Co., KY January 2, 1845 and is the second of a family of four children born to Vardiman and Nancy (Sleet) Finnell. Vardiman, a farmer, was born in Kentucky March 21, 1812, and his wife was born October 2, 1823. Etc etc.
