Bledsoe County, located along the Cumberland Plateau in southeast Tennessee. It is sandwiched between the Plateau and Walden?s Ridge on the east with the wide Sequatchie Valley down the middle of the county. Created in 1807 out of Roane County and named for Anthony Bledsoe, a Revolutionary war soldier who settled in Sumner County, Tennessee. Bledsoe was killed by the Indians at Bledsoe?s Station. These deeds cover the early years of the county and many of them refer back to the North Carolina roots of the state.
