The Yazoo Land sales from the State of Georgia of its lands to various other states released over six million acres of lands in their western territory to Mississippi and Alabama. The various Land Companies purchased the land, then resold them only to find the title was not clear and the Federal Government had to purchase all of the lands back. The claimants are from all over the United States.
