This volume of the orders issued by the various members of the staff for the Regiment cover the time period of 1862-1863 with only a few of the latter orders being labeled ?5th Tennessee?. This unit was labeled under different forms early in the war. These orders are not in chronological order nor numerical order so they have been written here in numerical order by the order number.

Will go immediately and discover where the four companies of this Reg?t recently stationed at Walleses X roads Cos. E, F, G & K now are, take command of the same, conduct them back to Walles X Roads and quard and defend that pass, discover the advance of any enemy from the mountains into Powles Valley, all along the space between Walles X Roads and Fincastle inclusive and report to these Hd Qrs immiadeately [sic] and to Dept Hd Qrs Knoxville. All the orders heretofore issued to Capt. Blackwell and Mims will be faithfully obeyed, all that may be of importance to the publick service…etc etc.
