The subtitle gives a clue as to the contents of this volume – “Frank Cheatham and His Confederate Division.” Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Benjamin Franklin Cheatham was part of the historic family as a descendant of the city founder James Robertson. Frank served in the Mexican War and when the Confederacy was established, he cast his lot with this side of the conflict. This volume is his story as he left his mark on such battles as Shiloh, Perryville, Stones River and Chickamauga.
