Included in many of the biographies are tidbits about the pioneer’s character, military service, marriage, children, death, and political affiliation.

He was twice married, first to Miss Ann BEARD, who died in 1844, the mother of three children: William, a planter of Putnam County; ((continues with children’s names, birth dates, etc.)) … His marriage was solemnized Jan 3, 1867 … She is a lady of superior culture and refinement, and as an earnest and devoted Christian lady has done much to add to her husband’s success ….
