The 1880 Census is one of those records that gives a great deal of personal records of our ancestors. This volume contains the records of that time period for thirty-nine counties in what is known as Middle Tennessee. This area is between the Cumberland Mountain and the Tennessee River as it goes back up through the state from Mississippi through Kentucky to empty into the Ohio River. Since this is an abstract with the surname, given name, age and county with page reference, you will need to have access to the full Census in order to glean all of the information. The value of this Index is to be able to locate all persons with the same surname and decide which is yours and where located. A great resource to have in your library.
